Act to Strengthen Healthcare (GVSG) passed: Accelerated provision of medical aids for children and young people with disabilities
During the night of 30 to 31 January 2025, the German Bundestag passed the Act to Strengthen Healthcare (GVSG) in its third and final reading. A central component is the newly inserted Section 33 (5c) of the German Social Code V (SGB V): In the case of the provision of aids for children and young people with disabilities whose prescriptions come from a SPC, the health insurance companies or the Medical Service (MD) will no longer be required to check for medical necessity.
