The right aid: the basis for participation and a better quality of life
Discover innovations in child and adolescent rehabilitation at the European Trade Fair for Rehabilitation, Therapy, Care and Inclusion
Karlsruhe, April 26, 2023 - At the 22nd European Trade Fair for Rehabilitation, Therapy, Care and Inclusion (June 15 to 17, 2023 at Messe Karlsruhe), special aids for children and young people will be a focal point of the exhibition. Children and young people with disabilities in particular need aids early on in order to develop optimally. Suitable walking aids, rehab buggies, standing devices, children's wheelchairs, therapy bikes, gait trainers and seat shells are essential for this. “Rehabilitation is an anchor for people with disabilities and the basis for participation and quality of life.
It's great that there are trade fairs like REHAB so that new findings reach people quickly,” says Jürgen Dusel, Federal Government Commissioner for Matters relating to People with Disabilities and patron of REHAB Karlsruhe. Around 50 percent of the more than 300 expected exhibitors are manufacturing companies. They use the trade fair format to present their innovations and product premieres to a broad specialist audience as well as to relatives and users. A selection: New products for children and young people at the trade fair
Specialists from the children's rehabilitation sector are bringing new products to Karlsruhe: Schuchmann is presenting a completely new product in the form of the “mats” recumbent tricycle that grows with the user. The special thing about it is that it grows with the user thanks to an adjustable wheelbase. An ingenious frame asymmetry ensures transfer access and allows the user to get on and off easily and independently. “REHAB offers us the perfect opportunity to present our innovative products to interested trade visitors and families with children with disabilities from the south of Germany. We are looking forward to the professional exchange and the numerous tests of our products, which always provide us with valuable suggestions for further developments,” says René Althaus, Head of Field Service at Schuchmann.
The “Grillo” walking aid is a new addition to the Wolturnus range. It can be used as a posterior or anterior walking aid and, with its four sizes, can be used for small children as well as for teenagers and adults. The patented base frame ensures that the center of gravity does not change when the height is adjusted and that the user is stable on the move, both indoors and outdoors.
This year at REHAB, SORG Wheelchair Technology will be presenting new additions to the “Dynamis” wheelchair family for people with spasticity as well as the active open-frame wheelchair “Airon”. Two of the three models are also available in new, smaller sizes.
One of Ottobock's product highlights at Rehab 2023 is the Exopulse Mollii Suit. The world's first neuromodulation suit can enable people with neurological conditions to lead a more active everyday life. To do this, 58 electrodes integrated into the suit send out electrical signals that relax the muscles. This can reduce spasticity and pain and activate muscle areas - with just one hour of stimulation per day. The suit is available from a clothing size of 104 and can also be used for small children. With the Kiddo rigid frame wheelchairs from Veldink4kids, which grow with the child, Ottobock offers care from an early age with an ideal transition between rehab baby carriages and adult wheelchairs.
Touch, try, see: Product diversity at the trade fair
At the specially designated marketplace for child and adolescent rehabilitation, trade visitors and parents will find a wide range of aids from manufacturing companies such as Berollka and HOGGI or specialized service providers such as Storch & Beller, 3Hmed, elomed or SC Sanitätshaus Carstens. Children's bed manufacturers such as KayserBetten and FreiStil will be on site. Other suppliers with a broader portfolio, such as Sunrise Medical or Paravan, can be found in other themed areas of the trade fair. The adjoining forum invites visitors to attend lectures, workshops and product presentations on overarching topics and trends in the medical aids industry and child and adolescent rehabilitation and to learn more.
